A North & South Spoof Piece (The Toast)

puppybasket2

My edit! (And just for fun, completely unrelated to the Spoof piece!)

This was just the ticket to give me a chuckle and a much-needed boost after all the emotional upheaval this week. From The Toast, and brought to my attention by Janeite.

Hope you enjoy!

look at him his face just says: ‘she didn’t like my job lips and my factory eyelashes! I’m taking my puppy and going to sell some more stuff to shops’

Well, the puppy does give him a run for his money, but if I had to choose one or the other… I’d take Thornton, job lips and all.

Had to look up “stroppy” and found a synonym “mardy”! LOL

Glad you enjoyed it, Helen! I love a bit of snarky humor! And yes, the puppy basket was just too cute to resist. =)

Wasn’t it great!? I’ve never read The Toast before now, but it was pretty spot-on. If I’d wanted to spoof N&S, she drew on exactly the same points that I would have!

Yes, excellent choices! Loved Mr Hale’s and Margaret’s dialogue especially and just burst out laughing at the last one between Mr. Thornton and Margaret.

LOL, I’d be hard pressed to pick a favorite, but I did just love “I do not think she likes me very much, Mother” … “then I will set her on fire”… gotta love Hannah Thornton. The ultimate protective mama =)

LOL – I think she hit on some hard truths there. Like Margaret’s patronizing attitude to all those beneeth her (including Mr Thorton). Thanks for passing that on – and the basket of puppy. Looks absolutely real!

Yes, she did rather skewer Margaret here! Poor Mr. Thornton. But gosh I wonder what factory his eyelids were from. I’d like to order some just like that for myself. =) And yes, I am just learning how to photoshop elements of 2 photos together… this was my first semi-serious attempt. I thought it turned out pretty cute!

That was a really classy factory. I don’t want a pair for myself but might get them for my hubster 😀
Your photoshop experiments look good to me! I shouldn’t admit this as a photographer, but editing photos is the part of professional practice that I really hate the most…

That’s interesting. I love to edit photos, brighten them, crop them, run them through filters… though I admit photoshop is a lot more complex than I’m used to, and I really ought to do some kind of a tutorial rather than bungle through it on my own.

Oh, that is just the basic stuff which I do not mind – levels and curves, cropping etc. I stay away from filters (unless for snaps and private stuff). But actually altering the contents of a photo is something that is a) time-consuming and b) really goes against my purist approach. I like the documentary nature of photography. But that is a personal preference only…

I loved the chunk about Mr. Hale. No, I am not going to tell you anything (wrings hands in distress) …

Yes… “it is much vaguer than that”…. ROFL! (And the part about could you please tell your mother… spot on! ) =)

Hilarious. I always thought Mr. Hale’s “crisis of conscience” was a supreme example of male stupidity.
I like the twin expressions on Thornton and puppy’s faces 🙂

LOL… I hadn’t noticed the similarity in their sad puppy faces until you said that! And fully agree… when Mrs. Hale finally lost her cool and told him off after Mr. Hale revealed his completely ambiguous moral dilemma, I was with her 100%. It really was completely idiotic from a sensible female standpoint.
