Yeah, so I came across this photo of Richard Armitage as Chop in the (hopefully soon-to-be-released) Urban and The Shed Crew yesterday, and I’m sure most of the fandom has seen it and grasped the eye-pleasing overall composition, the emotional impact of the separation between mother, son and father-figure, and most especially, the Drool-Worthiness of that long frame leaning up against the wall. It’s one of my favorite images, ever. I wonder if this is a scene from the movie, or more of a promotional shot? Whichever it is, it has successfully upped my anticipation and revved my engines!
I’m sure if I was Frazer Kelly’s mom, my fawning attention would be drawn to how cute my son looked in his role as Urban in this photo, leaning back against Chop, hands in pockets and legs crossed in subconscious imitation of the father figure. It really is an evocative picture of the father-son dynamic, and Urban does tug at my maternal heartstrings.
However, being the PreoccupiedWithArmitage individual that I am, my eye is of course drawn again and again to the figure of Richard Armitage.
Who tugs at… other strings. By all that’s sexy… unnnghhh. I pretty much love everything about this pose. My eyes can’t stop wandering up and down that lean body, excitedly landing here, there, everywhere. We need a higher resolution image!!
The long, messy hair. The downcast- or possibly closed- eyes. The profile. The scruffy jaw. The powerful length of his neck. The width across the shoulders. It’s too much!
But as amazing as the top half of Richard Armitage is in the photo… this is the part that makes me want to insert myself like a cat winding around those long, lean legs. I can’t decide if I’d rather be the wall, or the one leaning against his torso with a protective arm resting over my shoulders. Protectively possessive hand splayed across my… yeah.
Wow. Just when I think Richard Armitage can’t be any more sexy… this crotch happens. Please don’t read this, Hubby.
Yes, I was bowled over by this too. For all the same reasons 😉 His legs look even longer than usual because the coat makes them seem slimmer… And therefore even more to my taste, as I have a fondness for runners’ legs rather than beefy thighs 🙂
Can’t wait for this film. It is so up my street and I think RA is going to blow me away. Again. And he won’t die, either 😉

Bowled over. Exactly! I totally want to jump into that frame! And yes, long legs always get to me, too. That movie needs to hurry up and be shown already!!

Forgot to say the protective hand really gets to me, too.

I know… how can he be so simultaneously sexy and fatherly at the same time? It’s kind of like those pictures of dads with newborns… I love the contrast! (And I have a couple of those on my mantle… so enticing!)

it’s that vibe of strength held back — fatherly, but with the potential for so much more.

It’s amazing the effect this picture – and his stance in particular – has on us (well on me, I have to admit) I am *so* with you on the comments you have posted here. It’s like you took the words out of my mouth! 😉 Incredible that a fully clothed Richard can evoke these emotions. I too felt that Urban was, unconsciously or otherwise, copying how Chop is standing.

Yes. I think the reason I love it so much, aside from the obvious drool-factor, is the emotions it evokes. If the movie can deliver the tugs on the heartstrings as well as the “other strings” promised in that early trailer, it’s going to be an amazing experience for the fandom! (And hopefully a larger audience as well!)

Yes you are right. A very impressive picture, I love it. You can find emotions, fear?- in the view of Urbans Mother, resignation and effection in their relationship. Can´t wait to see the movie 🙂

Me, too! Yes, she looks a little lost in this photo. I haven’t read the whole book yet (accidentally left it behind when I went on my trip) but from what I’ve read so far, this photo seems to capture the situation really well.

I snorted when I read your last (crossed out) sentence. Funny. And yeah, a beautiful pic. I didn’t know what to think about how RA would look or come across after reading the book, not exactly a ‘sexy’ part. But, I guess you just can’t make Richard Armitage unsexy once the camera is rolling.

It’s so true. Scruffy, dwarfish, cleft palate scar… he seems to pull off a lot of “unlikely” looks! He is breathtaking. Literally. =)

Oh no! Not just you! I have a hard time dragging myself away from it.. I think this quote I found in my notebook today quite apt. “You’re heart knows things that you’re mind can’t explain.” I think this applies to what I feel towards Richard in general!!! 😀

It’s a lovely quote and it does apply nicely to Richard in general, and this photo as well! =)

There’s nothing like a gorgeous long-legged man in a good pair of jeans. Now we need the view from behind… without the coat 🙂

Thanks for the Reblog, Tessa. You know, the more I look at this picture and after reading Zan’s insightful post, it makes me think this image would make a good poster for the movie when it’s released. =)

Finally getting to read this – I deliberately stayed away from all other commentators on the image because I wanted to form my own opinion before I wrote a post. Yummy long legs indeed, although I confess I prefer the tighter jeans that RA is sporting in RL *ggg*. More meat *ahem*. But yes, the whole man-boy/son dynamic is very, very effective. A nice still that makes the mouth water and wish for more. Good marketing choice by Brady 😉

Lol. I like these jeans. They’re not exactly baggy- just a nice fit. Although I agree, RA can pull off the tight fitting jeans very nicely as well. And I loved your Ooof… you managed to illustrate the “why” behind this photo’s impact. Great job!

Let’s face it – *all* jeans will look great on RA 😀 Or no jeans at all?

I started to say I’d pass on the ultra-baggy jeans that slide off the wearer and hang barely off the bum-cheeks. Then I realized whose bum-cheeks I’d be passing on and nixed that statement. =)

LOL – that’s a way of looking at ultra-baggy jeans that makes them suddenly rather attractive…

Weird, isn’t it? The bum-cheeks in question make all the difference, don’t they? 😉

with you on all that as well as everything else that has been said. This is easily one of the best photos of his work and himself ever, there is the obvious physical beauty that never goes away (thank God!) but there is so much feeling and expression in the photo, the hand on the kid’s chest, the bowed head, etc I keep coming back to all the different posts people have written about it just to enjoy it some more 🙂 If the film holds what this photo promises… ah!
